An antique French sterling silver 14 piece tea and dessert set. Comprising of 12 tea or coffee spoons, a sugar sifter spoon and sugar tongs. The set is patterned with scrolling foliage tipped by a scalloped shell. Finely engraved monogram of initials HB. The sugar sifter features a finely pierced and spiral fluted bowl. Fierce lion claws adorn the tongs. A gorgeous set, perfect for a breakfast / tea time setting, or dessert with an after dinner coffee. Complete and housed in the original presentation box. Each piece is hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, depicting the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of 950/1000 (of 95% pure silver and a higher finesse than .925 sterling). Also bearing maker's marks for Parisian silversmith Henri Soufflot, who commence trade at 89 rue de Turbigo, Paris from 1884 - 1910. In good condition. Please see pictures for measurements. Total silver weight is 456.3 grams. Presentation box shows wear commensurate with age, there is a crack to the exterior base of the box but stable and still houses the set protectively.
