Gorgeous antique French sterling silver napkin ring. 95% pure silver with elegant Louis XVI/Rococo styling. Patterned with spiral fluted body and rocaille bordering. Centered by an ornate cartouche embellished with heavy floral decor, c-scrolls, rocailles and sea shells. With interlaced monogram of initials MF engraved in elegant script. Hallmarked with the French Minerva 1 standard hallmark, depicting the profile of the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her designating a silver content of .950/1000 (95% pure silver and higher than the standard .925 for sterling silver). Also bearing maker's mark for Parisian silversmith Charles Vincent, active from 1889 to 1922 at 47 rue des Blancs-Manteaux, Paris France. In good antique condition with general wear, the napkin ring is slightly out of round. Measures 2" diameter x 1 5/8" height. Weighs 51.3 grams.
