Antique French sterling silver napkin ring. Decorated in exquisite repousse work, the motif comprising of clusters of flowers and elegant scrolling foliage done in raised relief with engraved details. Engraved monogram of interlaced initials LM or ML. In overall good antique condition with general wear, some small indentions to the bottom edge. The ring is slightly out of round. Weighs 42.3 grams. Measures 2" diameter x 1 1/2". Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Also bearing maker's marks for Parisian silversmith Henri Soufflot, who commence trade at 89 rue de Turbigo, Paris from 1884 - 1910.
