Antique 19th century French sterling silver tea or coffee cup and saucer set. Beautifully crafted, of the finest quality French .950 solid silver. Featuring elegant styling patterned with Louis XVI style ribbon and reed borders. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Bearing maker's marks for silversmiths Henin & Cie, this mark was in use from 1875 to 1891. In overall good condition with general wear from use. Cup stands 2" height x 3 3/8" wide with the handle. Saucer measures 5" diameter. Total silver weight of 197.8 grams.
