Antique French wax seal desk stamp. Featuring a turned ebonized wood handle and iron matrix. The matrix with a heraldic coat of arms, likely detailing the union or marriage of two noble families. Featuring a central shield with armorial beneath two crowned helms with mantling, greyhound and angel crests. The elements within the shield include an eagle and greyhound, as well as double arrows piercing a royal crown, (perhaps a link there to Suffolk and St Edmund's crown? ) In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Measures 3 7/8" length x 3/4" wide at the top of the handle, matrix measures 1" x 7/8" oval.
