The casted solid bronze figure is fully dimensional and finely detailed. Signed Germain JBte. Attributed to Jean-Baptiste Germain (French, c. 1845-1910). The back with dedication Le Classe de 5eme 1901-1902 à son Professeur. Stamped near the base with impressed L.M. mark, perhaps a foundry or retailer stamp. The matrix bearing a monogram, appears to be interlaced initials BJ or perhaps BF. With original red marble display stand enhanced in silver bronze trim. Measures 5 5/8” total height with the stand x 2 3/8" diameter at the base. The wax seal alone stands 3 1/2" tall x 1 7/8" wide, the circular matrix is 7/8" diameter. In overall good condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. There is an edge nick to the marble at the base.
