Rare antique 19th century desk stamp with multiple wax seals in the original presentation box. Featuring a faceted glass handle in stunning canary yellow color terminating to a hinged mount. Together with a collection of six wax seal tiles with engraved intaglios. Of yellow and purple cut glass, each with different phrases.
Wax seals include:
'May you possess it' above a flower.
'Depechez Vous' (Hurry up) above a pictorial of cupid aiming his arrow at a winged heart.
'The hope of return takes the sting from adieu'
'Usque ad cineres' above a pictorial of two clasped hands
'Excuse haste' above an image of a tortoise.
'Prenez garde' (beware) with a rat at the entrance of a trap!
Measures 2 7/8" length. The seals are 5/8". Overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with use and age. Some small chips to the intricate faceted handle and small chips to the glass tiles. Complete and in the original box, the lid has separated from the base over the years as shown. Box measures 3 1/2" x 1 1/8".
