The decoration includes heavy gold gilding with charming colorful birds on silvered grounds, further enhanced by various raised enamel florals and scrollwork. The lid is edged in white enameled 'jewels' or dots. The glass box is a rich ruby red color with beveled edges and clipped corners. Bronze or brass mounts circle the box, centered by a rounded escutcheon-shaped lock and adorned with handles on either side. This Moser box rests on a stand of four ornate ball feet. Marked with the number 15. painted in gold gilt on the interior lid and the interior of the bottom portion, typical of Moser to indicate that both glass parts are matching.
