Late 19th century German large scale still life painting. Oil on canvas depicting a hunted game of good pictorial quality. Featuring a hunted hare rabbit alongside various market vegetables, including cabbage, parsley and pumpkin. In the background, a blue cloth drape over a wooden market or crate sign bearing the name of the German town of Aschersleben, the oldest town in Saxony-Anhalt situated in the Harz Mountains. Signed K. Kraft. Dated 1890. Unframed. Measures 39 1/8" height x 28 3/8" width x 7/8" deep. In overall good state of conservation with general wear commensurate with age and use. Typical craquelure. Some small areas of paint loss, most notably on the belly of the rabbit and near the bottom edge.
