Antique Victorian 19th century Etruscan Revival carved conch shell cameo brooch. Depicting the goddess Athena (Minerva in Roman) - Greek Goddess of wisdom, courage, civilization, law and justice, strength, the arts, crafts and skill. The left facing bust profile of Athena is finely hand carved in high dimensional relief. She is portrayed as a beautiful lady with classical features and majestic expression. Fine details to her cascades of curling hair. She wears her warrior helmet decorated with the sea-monster Skylla (Scylla).
