
Antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette. Rectangular form with serpentine edging embellished with engraved flourishes, engine-turned inner field centered by a circular cartouche in the form of a belt loop and buckle with monogram EH below a marquess or marchioness’ coronet. Opening to a gilt interior with finely pierced and engraved grille. Hallmarked for Birmingham, 1861. Maker's mark for Frederick Marson. Frederick Marson worked between 1847 and 1873, he specialized in fine quality boxes, many of which have survived today. Measures 1 5/16" x 15/16" x 3/8" Weighs 14.3g. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. A couple of shallow impressions to the back.
