Vintage French compact case by Parisian jewelers Soubrenie et Bois. The lid with tested 18K yellow gold overlay and the body of the case is crafted in .800 silver. Hand engraved decoration to the lid, depicting a snowy landscape with a cottage and a church in the distance, in the forefront is a pair of skis and poles in the snow. Set into the cottage windows are two ruby accents. The front of the compact with gold overlay clasp channel-set with six square cut rubies. Flush hinge to the back. Opening to reveal a beveled mirror and empty powder well. The interior powder well is hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar indicating .800/1000 silver. The gold overlay on the lid is tested at 18K yellow gold. Makers mark for the Parisian jeweler Soubrenie et Bois. Soubrenie et Bois manufactured gold and silver evening bags, cigarette boxes, compacts, vanity cases, lighters, and lipstick cases for the retailers Lacloche and Boucheron in the 1950s-1970s. Measures 3" square x 3/8" height. Weighs 141.9 grams. In overall good vintage used condition, no chips or cracks to the mirror.
