Superb Art Deco French sterling silver over cup tea strainer. Decorated with elegant styling and beaded trim. Finished with a finely pierced bowl. Housed in the original presentation box with fitted interior. In overall good condition, the presentation box show general wear. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Maker's mark for silversmith Ernest Prost, active 1923-1963 at 7 rue Réaumur, Paris. Measures 6 3/4" length. Weighs 40.6 grams. Box measures 7 1/2" length x 4 1/8" width x 1 7/8" tall.
