
Antique Belle Epoque era French .800 silver umbrella parasol handle set. Housed in the original presentation box. The handle is richly decorated in gilt vermeil finish with raised relief and neoclassical styling. The decoration includes an oval medallion depicting cupid standing with his bow, topped by a finial of cupid's quiver of arrows and a flower crown, embellished with florals and foliage, the top and bottom fringed with indigo blue enamel. Maple wood shaft. Finely housed in the original presentation box together with eight spoke tips and a silver ferrule with steel tipped end. The handle, spoke tips and ferrule are hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar, in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. Bearing maker's marks for Henri Lambin, active 1909-1936 at 17 rue de Clery, Paris. In overall good antique condition with general wear/signs of age, there is a short split in the seam on the side of the silver handle as shown. The box showing wear commensurate with age. Measures 16 1/8" total length. The handle portion measures 3" length x 1 1/8" width x 7/8" deep. The ferrule tip is 1 3/8" length, the spoke tips are 3/4" length. Box measures 18 1/8" x 2 3/4" x 1 5/8" height.
