Antique French figural wax seal stamp cast in bronze with a rich golden-brown patina by Charles Théodore Perron (1862-1934). It is styled as a classical herm (or term) statue. The upper section depicts a bearded, muscular male figure, likely Dionysus / Bacchus. The figure features a detailed face, full beard and a wreath of grape leaves woven into his hair. Draped fabric or a chiton is wrapped low around the waist, exposing a stylized, muscular torso. The figure tapers downward into a square, rectangular pillar decorated with ribbed texturing. This pillar doubles as the ergonomic handle for the desk stamp and finishes at a multi-tiered, square stepped base. The matrix bearing a monogram of interlaced initials RE or ER in a stylized font. The handle is signed Ch. Perron for Charles Théodore Perron. Measures 3 3/4" length, the matrix base is 3/4" square. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use.
