Antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver sugar tongs richly decorated with rocailles and foliage. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of 950/1000 (of 95% silver and a higher finesse than .925 sterling). Bearing a maker's mark for silversmiths Paul Canaux & Cie, 1892-1911, 30 boulevard Malesherbes, Paris. Measures 5 1/4" length. Weighs 51.9 grams. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, there is a small split at the back visible in the 4th photo.
