Beautiful vintage pair of of .900/1000 silver hand forged Chilean spurs, or espuelas, traditionally worn by huasos, Chilean cowboys. Handmade of silver, these vintage collectible spurs are great office decoration and add charm to western decor. Housed in the original blue velvet lined presentation box. With a commemorative plaque, also in .900/1000 Chilean silver, with an engraving indicating a gift from The Sociedad Hipodromo Chile S.A. in recognition of Mr. Luis Romanet for his important contribution to the International Horse Riding in Santiago de Chile, April 1994. Note: I tried to research the receiver of these spurs and the only possible name I could find is France's Mr. Louis Romanet who is chairman of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities and has served in the role since 1994.
In overall good vintage condition, having been housed protectively in the original box. Hallmarked Hecho a mano (made by hand) Plata Fina (Fine silver) .900/1000 silver Chile. Weight of the spurs is 517 grams. The silver commemorative plaque is mounted to the box and cannot be weighed. Features 2" wide rowels with 32 points that produces a lovely 'jingle' sound when spun. Measures 6 7/8" length x 3 1/2" heel opening. Box measures 10 3/4" x 9 1/8" x 4 7/8" height.
