Antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver salt cellars set. Comprising of four open salt cellars with matching salt spoons. The salt cellars are decorated with serpentine shaping, and patterned with Art Nouveau style clematis flowers on scrolling vines. Enhanced with gold vermeil interiors. The salt spoons bear the same clematis flower motif. Cut glass liners feature a lovely wheel cut starburst at the base. The set is housed within the original presentation box with fitted interior. The salt cellars and salt spoons are hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark. In use from 1838, the mark depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of .950/1000 silver (95% silver and a higher grade of finesse than the standard .925 for sterling). Bearing makers marks for Louis Ravinet & Charles Denfert, active 1891 to 1912 at 83 rue du Temple, Paris. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Two salt cellars have a split in the seam near the top as shown. One glass liner with a noticeable chip. Total silver weight is 85.4 grams. Salt cellars measure 2 1/2" length x 1 3/4" width x 1 3/8" height. Spoons measure 3" length. Box measures 8 5/8" square x 3" height.
