Henri de Beul (Belgian, 1845-1900) antique 19th century painting depicting a shepherd and his dog leading a flock of sheep from the stable to the pasture. Signed "H De Beul" lower left. Henri De Beul was a Belgian 19th Century animal painter who was born in Dendermonde in 1845. He studied at the Academy of Dendermonde and the Academy of Brussels. Although in general he painted farm animals and canine studies he is particularly known for his favoured subject of sheep in Flemish or Brabantian landscape. He exhibited extensively, in Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Liege. The artist died in Schaarbeek in 1900. Oil on wood. In a gilded wooden frame. Frame measures 21 3/8" x 16 3/8" x 1 1/8". Panel measures 14 7/8" x 10 1/8" (sight). In good antique condition. Frame with some lacks and wear.
