Antique French Baccarat crystal desk inkwell. Square form inkwell topped by large knob lid, in the popular Baccarat swirled pattern Bambous tors, twisted bamboo. Encircled by silvered metal hinged collar. Opening to reveal a deep well with a removable metal insert. The base finished with a 24-point wheel cut starburst. Unsigned and predating the Baccarat 1936 acid etched logo. The famed cristallerie used paper labels beginning in 1860 until 1936, which often got lost, worn or washed away. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use, scuffing to the high points of the crystal from use, the base with surface scratches and couple of edge nicks. A heavy piece, weighs over 5lbs by itself. Large size, measuring 5 3/8" height x 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" square.
