Large antique French .800 silver Empire style oval mirror plateau centerpiece, circa 1900's. With a thick beveled edge to the original old silver backed glass mirror. Mounted onto a thick sterling silver framework. Richly decorated with neoclassical motifs including elegant laurel leaves and berries. Resting on four superbly casted figural feet. In the form of majestic lion paw feet enhanced with floral garland swags and scrolling. Of excellent craftsmanship and finely detailed decor. Finished with original hard wood backing. Measures 21 1/2" length x 14 1/4" width x 1 1/2" height. Hallmarked with the French swan import mark for silver pieces from countries without trading contract to France, since 1893. In overall good condition. No chips or cracks to the exquisite beveled mirror. Some scratches commensurate with use. This large mirror is perfect for display.
