A large antique 19th century French gilt bronze jewelry box / casket. Such stunning ornamentation on this piece! Neo-classical appliques of ribbon bows and scrolling foliate adorn the lid with four flaming torches accenting the corners, all of which encases small mother of pearl plaques . The lid houses a LARGE salmon pink guilloche enameled plaque framing a central miniature portrait. The portrait is hand painted, depicting a lady of the court in a pink gown and large feather plumed hat! Beautifully painted with bright vivid colors and small tiny brushstrokes. Housed under glass and signed by the artist: David. The lid opens to reveal a velvet fabric lining the interior. And the base is finished off with four gorgeous lion paw feet!
