A lovely antique 19th century French .800 silver needle case etui embossed on both sides with a Neoclassical repoussé decoration comprising of an urn overflowing with flowers, sprigs of laurel, and a blank oval medallion cartouche topped by a ribbon bow. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar in use from 1838 to indicate a silver content of .800/1000. The mark was typically used on small objects of at least 80% pure silver content, close to .925 sterling. Also bearing silversmith's mark for Laurent Curt, active 1876 at 67 rue Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth, Paris.
