Pair of large Art Deco French Sevres ceramic vases by Paul Jean Milet, son of Felix Optatus Milet. Optat Milet began his career as a modeler for Sèvres in 1862, and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. His son Paul Jean Milet took over operations shortly before the turn of the century and ran the company until 1931. Stunning vases of baluster form featuring gorgeous blue to green flambe glaze set within wrought iron metal mounts flanked by impressive Greek key handles, collar and base with a textured surface applied with roses and leaves. Marked PM for Paul Milet Sevres, this mark was in use circa 1930. Stands 17 5/8" height x 6 3/8" wide across the handles. In good condition with general wear to the metal mounts. There is a horizontal scratch in the glaze on one vase just above the central leaf detail. Slight variance in dimensions: One vase measures 17 3/4" height x 6 14" wide x 2 1/4" diameter opening. The other measures 17 5/8" height x 6 3/8" wide x 2 1/4" diameter opening.
