Pair of Paul Milet for Sevres Vases, French Porcelain & Signed DELAUNAY Bronze Mounts
Pair of antique French Sevres porcelain vases by Paul Milet, son of Felix Optatus Milet. The vases feature a stunning flambe glaze in rich emerald green and navy blue tones. Mounted with bronze fittings decorated in Art Nouveau style geometric forms with openwork and palmettes, flanked by round medallions embellished with scrolling foliage and move-able handles. Resting on a footed base. Both sets of handles are signed by the bronzer DELAUNAY, A1440. Stamped FRANCE on the base. The vases are marked for Paul Milet and Sevres, this mark was in use circa 1911. Optat Milet began his career as a modeler for Sèvres in 1862, and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. His son Paul Jean Milet took over operations shortly before the turn of the century and ran the company until 1931. The vases are in very good condition, there a couple of fine scratches from use and wear/patina to the metal mounts commensurate with age. Stands 8 7/8" height x 4 1/4" width.
