Vintage mid-century figural table lamp featuring an exquisite Japanese Kutani porcelain okimono. The figure is of a Karako (boy) playing a taiko drum. He is depicted in traditional robes with geometric patterns, brilliantly hand painted in rich enamels and intricate gilding. The porcelain figure dates to the Meiji period (late 19th to early 20th century) and sits on a custom-fitted wooden base. Mounted in the mid-century as a table lamp, with single stem, bulb and harp fitting. Together with a vintage silk pagoda shade in an white/cream color that features a subtle, monochromatic pattern of traditional Asian-style motifs, including pagodas, trees, and figures (chinoiserie toile motif). Topped by a stylized finial. In overall good vintage condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. No chips or cracks to the figurine. The lamp shade is in good condition. The lamp is currently wired for US standard with cloth covered cord. For all vintage lamps, we recommend professional rewiring. Dimensions: Stands 21" total height. The lamp shade measures 10" height x 11" wide at the base x 5 3/8" wide at the top. The figure measures 7" tall x 3 3/4" length x 5" deep.
